UGANDA
The Bwindi Impenetrable forest is like the name would suggest: Dark, unrelenting and vast. I spent a solid 7 hours (starting at 4am) in stinking humidity, trekking and bashing mostly uphill until we reached its forested depths in search of an unhabituated Gorilla family. Man were my guides fit! Pretty much on my last legs, we were suddenly brought to a halt. Just over there the guides pointed to movement in the forest canopy. We inched forward and then, Boom! A 'Silver Back' appeared in front of us. What? I crouched and we locked eves. All sorts of respectful, sympathetic emotions rushed through me as l gradually lifted the camera. This was his home as his family slowly surrounded us. I wanted to stay there forever.
