My visit to Compton, Los Angeles, to support the Compton Cricket Club was both powerful and inspiring—not what one typically associates with a trip to California. I was invited by my dear friend Katy Haber, whose remarkable career in Hollywood and dedication to helping the homeless inspired me to connect with this cause so close to her heart. In a neighborhood often defined by its challenges, I witnessed how cricket serves as a unifying force, bringing discipline, teamwork, and hope to many young people. Spending time with the players was a poignant reminder of sport’s transformative power to break barriers and inspire change in the most unexpected places.
