Nick Compton is a former English cricketer who played as a right-handed batsman primarily for Middlesex and Somerset and represented England at the international level. Born in South Africa, Compton is the grandson of legendary cricketer Denis Compton. He made his Test debut for England in 2012 against India and played 16 Test matches until 2016. Known for his solid technique and determination at the crease, Compton had a memorable series in New Zealand in 2013, where he scored his maiden Test century. He won series abroad in India, the first England team to beat India at home in over 28 years and South Africa. He made significant contributions in domestic cricket, amassing over 12,000 first-class runs before retiring in 2018.
